- The team who made this a reality are a group of students from Cochin University College Of Engineering ,Kuttanad (CUCEK-CUSAT),Kerala. Nithin.V, Rajeev Krishnan, Renjith.P, Shiju.K.V, Vivek Vijayan ,the final year students of Electronics and Communication branch in CUCEK has done this as part of their curriculum main project. This project is developed as a tribute to all those great martyrs who lost their lives in deadly combats in the past and to prevent such a situation in future. PREDATOR is called as future soldiers because this robot performs most functions of a soldier at war field, with ultimate precision.
The idea of sending robots to do the job is because if something went wrong, we'd only lose the money it cost to build the robot instead of losing a human life. The robot is both immune to suppression and sets unprecedented high standards for accuracy and speed while remaining directly in the face of enemy fire. The project is designed to become front end soldiers of the nations to drive away intruders and provide an unprecedented degree of protection both for operation personnel and local populations. PREDATOR expands to Predatory Robot Embedded with Direct Action, Tracking, Observation and Reconnaissance.
The PREDATOR robot provides a safe, controlled, and superior countermeasure to small arms threats and is the ultimate tool in force protection and projection. The PREDATOR provides surveillance facility, security, reconnaissance and has the ability to secure areas without direct soldier exposure. With its long-range, accuracy, precision, lethality and variable response, the PREDATOR is ideal for peacekeeping, offensive, and defensive applications.
The PREDATOR is a mobile, lightweight, self-contained system that can be deployed and remotely operated by an individual Soldier with an optional link to his command post.
The robot’s platform is equipped with a lead - acid battery which provides a four hour operating life. As a superior small arms defensive system, the PREDATOR offer reliable strike capability. For small arms, the PREDATOR gives peacekeeping forces the ability to operate among non-combatants and provide an unprecedented degree of protection both for operation personnel and local populations.
The PREDATOR has the ability to convey videos for reconnaissance and for engaging personnel and material targets day and night. The PREDATOR is controllable in wireless RF mode and in tethered control mode. In RF Communication control mode, the system shall provide the operator with full control of all system function at a distance up to 400 feet without any performance degradation. RF Communication mode shall utilize frequency hopping and spread spectrum to meet military requirement.
The PREDATOR operator remotely controls the ground vehicle’s four cameras. The controlling is done via computer where the software necessary for control is run. The software is developed using Visual Basic 8.0. The communication is via serial port of computer. The PREDATOR provides snipping ability which increases weapon accuracy. The robot is a perfect lethal force as it contains a Laser gun. The robot is extremely mobile and compact as it can be transported from one location to another easily.

So PREDATOR can perform almost all functions of a soldier at war field or in any commando operation with ultimate precision. With its most advanced technology this robot will be a break through in Military and it will surely be the front end soldiers.
